Holy Communion
Holy Communion is celebrated on the second Sunday of each month, except in
July, August and December, and also on Easter Day.
Communion invitations are delivered before the April and September Communions. They
do not require to be brought to the services.
The Sacrament is always available to the housebound. Please contact your Elder if you
wish to have Communion at home, and arrangements suitable to you and to the Minister
will be made.
The Sacrament of Baptism
Christian baptism is the way by which we are received into the fellowship of the Church.
We 'join' the Church by baptism. Thus baptism is normally 'in the face of the congregation'.
Parents requesting baptism for their children should approach the Minister in good time for a
full discussion of the meaning of Christian baptism and the vows. The place for infants
to be baptised is the the congregation where parents of the infants are members, so that
the little children will grow up in the care and nurture of that fellowship. Occasionally
however we have the opportunity to welcome back families to Rubislaw for the baptism of a child.
Weddings
As soon as a date has been provisionally fixed for the wedding, preliminary arrangements
should be made with the Minister. Further interviews will be arranged so that the whole
meaning of Christian marriage is discussed and detailed arrangements made. It is customary
to have a rehearsal in the church one or two evenings before the day of the marriage.
Couples intending to be married must go to the Registrar to arrange for the completion of a
Marriage Notice. This should normally be done 4 weeks before the wedding.
In any case, please see the Minister at the earliest possible time since it is not unusual for him to
have weddings booked well over a year ahead.
Our church has easy access and special facilities for disabled people. There is
an Induction Loop for the benefit of those with hearing aids.
We offer a transport service for the elderly and tape recordings of services are
available.
